Hemp Seed Oil use for eczema.

Researchers, led by Dr J Callaway, at the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Clinical Nutrition at the University, followed a group of patients with atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema, which is a type of allergy that causes dry and itchy skin and often requires medical treatment.

"We are still processing some of the biochemical data," said Dr Callaway, "but the subjective results from the patients are already in and they have been correlated with the diagnostic reports from the dermatologist.

"In short, we saw a remarkable reduction in dryness, itching and an overall improvement in the symptoms of these patients while they were using the hempseed oil, and no significant change at all while they were using the olive oil. We also noticed a reduction in the frequency of influenza when these patients were taking the hempseed oil," continued the researcher.

The patients orally consumed two tablespoons of oil a day for two months in a randomised, double-blind crossover design. The other oil in the study was cold-pressed olive oil, and a two month washout period separated the two oil intervention periods.

Previously, these same researchers investigated the effects of hemp seed oil in a group of healthy volunteers and subsequently found elevated blood levels of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid; a naturally occurring fatty acid).

"This is a good thing because decreased GLA is thought to be associated with several chronic health problems, such as allergies and other disorders of the immune system," said Dr Callaway.Over the last 10 years, numerous anecdotal reports have claimed that hempseed oil improves skin integrity, strengthens finger-nails and thickens hair. "In a way, this all makes sense because skin, hair and nails are all formed from the same line of dermal stem cells," said Dr Callaway.

MotherHemp claims that while hempseed oil is relatively new to the modern Western palate, it has been used as an inexpensive substitute for butter in most Eastern European cultures in the past, particularly in Russia. Hempseed oil is more than 90 per cent unsaturated and, for this reason, should not be used for frying, the company noted.

"Hempseed oil is an exceptional source of EFAs; the essential fatty acids that we must obtain from our daily diet because, like vitamins, we can't produce them on our own. Judging from the fatty acid profile of hempseed oil, the numerous anecdotal reports over the years and now the results of our initial clinical investigations, I'd have to conclude that this is probably the healthiest oil on the market," said Dr Callaway.

"Clearly, this is an important and useful discovery that will need to be investigated further," added Dr Callaway.

Innocent Oils 100% Innocent Hemp Seed Oil has been recommended by The Green Parent Magazine issue 31, as a great facial oil for all skin types and ages.

How to go back to basics with your skin care products

If you have extremely sensitive skin, eczema and dry skin problems with added spots etc, it is always best to go right back to basics before simply replacing current products with new, in the hope that they will sort the problem.

I only discovered this after spending way too much money on various skin care products over a 7 year period, only to find I still had the same skin problems and no clearer idea of how to fix the skin sensitivities, let alone know what was in the products I had used that may be causing the issues. Sound familiar?

It wasnt until I cleared out the lot, including laundry detergents and fabric conditioners, tooth pastes, shampoos, conditioners, ..... long story short, discovered Hemp Seed Oil. I then spent, and continue to spend my time researching Hemp and other botanical ingredients, along with manufacturing what I believe to be the purest truly natural products available currently.

To start the clear out:
Make a list of all the products you use on your skin, toothpastes, clothes detergents etc. Be as honest and extensive as possible. This will provide you with a really good starting point to work from.

The cosmetics industry is a multi billion dollar business, and the choice is endless until you have a clean slate to work from.
This will also save a great deal of money in the long run.

The best skin I have seen in the world does not come from those with lots of money or live in the Western world in super clean environments. It is those who use less, have less, and really understand what they are using because of centuries of knowledge passed down the generations.

Simple skincare from simple ingredients direct from mother nature and unadulterated just as you will find at Innocent Oils.

Think about What & Why a particular product attracts your attention!
Is it the Packaging hype or is it the ingredients used within?

The only reason creams nowadays have so many ingredients and variations, is not because of the benefits they give the consumer. It boils down to the profits the corporations make from selling more than the next, as each basic cream has to be slightly different from the last to get a customer to buy it over another.
Hense the implied claims and unusual exotic sounding ingredients used, making it sound like a better product than the one next to it.

BUT are the ingredients doing you any good, or even necessary in the product?

Rewind to a time before the Corporations nearly a century ago and look at what was used then and had been used for centuries prior, up to the time when we stopped making our own skin care and started to shop for it instead.

By compiling a list of what you use you will be well on the way to fixing those skin problems without any new products to purchase.

Innocent Oils started with 100% Innocent Hemp Seed Oil for the purpose of being the first and only initial skin care product to use on my skin after the chemical onslaught had be halted.
Using a single oil on the skin as a starting point, makes additions from then on easier without falling into the trap of bombarding the skin with irritating chemicals again.

Innocent Oils now produces a full body care range to keep your skin healthy and toxin free from the moment you decide to rid the chemicals from your cupboards.

We are listed and proud to have been scored with a 0-1 Hazard score. Thats a fantastic result, and certainly not easy to achieve, but worth every bit of hard work to get there and keep it that way.

A word about SODIUM HYDROXIDE

Dont be alarmed, this is the catalyst for saponification - the chemical reaction which turns fats and oils into soap and glycerin.

Sodium hydroxide does not remain in the finished bar because it has fully reacted with the oils and fats, to be chemically changed into soap and glycerin. Sodium Hydroxide is made up of Sodium, Hydrogen, and Oxygen. Together they make a strong alkali.
During the soap making process the elements break up into their individual parts, then recombine with the fats and water to create the soap and glycerine. For example Cocoa Butter becomes Sodium Cocoate after it has gone through the saponification process.

Any soap which states it has not been made using Lye ie: Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide you can be sure you are buying a detergent bar, containing a harsh skin drying ingredients such as SLS.
You will be surprised how many detergent bars and melt & pour soaps are out there under the guise of real soap!
ALWAYS Check out the ingredients list first and ask questions if need be.

Pre manufactured detergent and melt & pour based soap may look pretty and smell delicious, and if that is what you are looking for then of course feel free to use it, they do clean effectively all the same.

However, if you are looking for real genuine soap made from scratch, with all the benefits a real soap has to offer the skin, then look no further. Especially those with dry sensitive skin conditions, you will notice the difference immediately.

Here at Innocent Oils we know where each of the ingredients has come from right back to source, we know how those ingredients work together, and we know just how good they are for the health of your skin.
